Secondary Education

  • Completion of at least Grade 6 in Vietnam (requirements vary by school)

  • Some schools require entrance tests in Mathematics and English

College / Diploma

  • Completion of Grade 10 or Grade 11

  • Minimum GPA typically from 6.0 – 6.5 or higher

If students do not yet have an IELTS certificate, they may:

  • Enroll in a foundation English course in Singapore

  • Progress to the main academic program once the required English level is achieved

Singapore does not require IELTS at the initial stage for many programs, making it a very suitable destination for Vietnamese students.

Singapore does not require complicated financial proof like Australia, the US, or Canada.

Typically, students only need to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to pay tuition fees

  • Provide clear and reasonable financial information

This is a major advantage that helps increase the student visa approval rate.

Singapore Student Visa (Student Pass)

One of the major advantages of studying in Singapore is the simple, transparent visa process and fast processing time compared to many other countries.

For international students, the Student Pass is the most common type of student visa and is managed directly by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA).

Who Needs to Apply for a Singapore Student Pass?

The Student Pass is issued to students enrolled in long-term study programs, allowing them to legally stay in Singapore for the duration of their studies.

You do NOT need to apply for a Student Pass if you fall into one of the following categories:

  • Singapore Permanent Resident (PR)

  • Holder of a Dependent Pass (DP)

  • Enrolled in a short-term course that only requires a Short-Term Visit Pass
(For example, Vietnamese citizens are visa-free for 30 days and may extend their stay up to 90 days)

Note: The Student Pass allows students to remain in Singapore for the full duration of their studies, but it is not a prerequisite for admission to a school.

Student Pass Application Documents (2026)

To apply for a Student Pass, students are generally required to prepare the following documents:

  • Valid passport

  • Birth certificate

  • Academic records: transcripts, report cards, relevant certificates or diplomas

  • Passport-sized photos with white background (as required)

Depending on the institution and study program, additional documents may be requested.

Processing Time & Validity of the Student Pass

  • Processing time: Approximately 4–6 weeks (depending on individual applications)

  • Recommended application timeline: 1–6 months before the course start date

  • Validity: Matches the duration of the study program
(Must be renewed before expiry if continuing studies)

Understanding these timelines helps students plan their studies and entry into Singapore smoothly, avoiding any disruptions to their study journey.
