Admission Requirements

Understanding Study Abroad Requirements

Chinese Language Programs:

  • High school graduation

  • No high GPA requirement

Bachelor’s Degree Programs:

  • High school graduation

  • GPA from 6.0–7.0 or above

Master’s Degree Programs:

  • Bachelor’s degree graduation

  • GPA from 6.5–7.0 or above

Doctoral Degree Programs:

  • Master’s degree graduation

  • A relevant research proposal is required

Chinese Language Programs:

  • No HSK requirement for entry

Chinese-taught Programs:

  • HSK Level 4–5 (depending on the level of study and major)

English-taught Programs:

  • IELTS 5.5–6.5

  • Some universities accept an interview in place of IELTS

No complicated financial proof is required.

Students mainly need to demonstrate their ability to cover expenses for the first year (or provide proof of an awarded scholarship).

Some universities may conduct online interviews to assess:

  • Study objectives

  • Foreign language proficiency

Chinese Student Visa:

  • Interviews are usually not required

  • Applications are mainly assessed based on submitted documents

International students are allowed to work part-time in accordance with university and local regulations, mainly in roles such as:

  • Teaching assistants
  • Research assistants
  • On-campus part-time jobs

China student visa

Studying in China requires an X visa, which is divided into two types:

1. X1 Visa

  • For study programs lasting more than 6 months
  • After entering China, students are required to apply for a residence permit

2. X2 Visa

  • For study programs lasting less than 6 months
  • No residence permit is required

3. Required documents for a student visa application:

  • A valid passport
  • Admission letter from the university
  • Visa application form
  • Passport-sized photos
  • Medical examination report (required for X1 visa)
  • Relevant academic documents

The approval rate for Chinese student visas is relatively high if the application dossier is complete and complies with regulations.
